Though the original
records is in handwritten French, the gist of it is that on
29 June 1856, Rosalie Harkenss, daughter of William Harkness
and a Kwantlen woman, was baptized at Fort Langley by one
Father Lootens. Rosalie's godfather was Etienne Pepin.
It should be noted
that in the original:
- William's last
name appears to be spelled "Harkenem";
Father Lootens' handwriting is a little tricky to
read in some spots.
- Rosalie's mother
is recorded as "u'une femme Quslen"
- Etienne is
recorded as "Magice (Pepin)"
