Alexandre Latreille

On September 11, 1853, Emilia, daughter of Alexis Latreille and a Moesquillon woman was baptized.  Her god father was "Cyprien de Yonghe canadien".

It should be noted that in the original handwritten French:

  • Latreille is recorded as Latreuil

  • after Alexis' name is the word "canadien"

  • the best guess on "Moesquillon" is "Musqueam"

  • "Cyprien de Yonghe" is probably Cypriene Dionne

  • the officiating priest was either Father Haerolen or Father Haerden; these are the two best guesses

In July of 1856, after the posting of bans, Alexander Latreille, son of Antoine and Marguerite Gauthier of Trois Rivières, and Marguerite a Quystlen woman were married at Fort Langley by Father Lootens.  The witnesses were Augustin Willing and Narcisse Falardeau.  Everyone in the wedding party signed with Xs, except Augustin.

This wedding legitimized their child, Alexandre, born 3 January 1856.
