Seeing how interconnected the Fort Langley families are -- both before and after arriving at Fort Langley -- and how difficult some of these connections were to make, we present questions here asked by folks doing research in the fur trade era, in hopes that they can make some family connection somewhere.

HEDDLE, Jessie; Fort St. James,Stuart's Lake, New Caledonia

Jessie Heddle was born about 1825 in what was then known as New Caledonia, an area of British Columbia, possibly also known as Fort St. James and Stuart's Lake.  Jessie married Donald McKay.  He is said to be born about 1820, in Galston, Ness, Scotland.  Donald died June 10, 1884 at Cumberland House, Saskatchewan.  They had several children between 1847 and 1862, William, Margaret, Ann, Donald and Angus all in the Cumberland District of Saskatchewan, Northern Manitoba that was then known as Rupertsland or the North West Territories.  I am trying to find more information on the origins and ancestors of Jessie Heddle and her husband Donald McKay.  Donald McKay and Jessie Heddle were my great-great-grandparents.
